Seed Paper Planting in Cold Climates: The Ultimate Guide!
Share
So you’ve been gifted one of our plantable seed paper cards (wink wink nudge nudge), but like me, you live in a cold climate with snowy, below freezing temperatures during the winter. You may be thinking you have to wait until the spring time to plant it. Think again!
Use these simple steps to ensure successful germination when planting seed paper indoors:

1. Soak the paper in water before planting
-
Tear the paper into smaller pieces and let soak in a glass of water for 10-15 minutes.
- Using heat in your home during the winter can make for a dry environment so by pre-soaking the seed paper, you increase your chances for a successful germination.

2. Place a very light layer of soil on top
- When planting your paper outside, it gets plenty of light so the amount of soil placed on top is not as important. Indoors, the paper will need as much light as possible so a thin layer is extra important! A light dusting should be perfect.

3. Choose the sunniest place in the house
-
The next most important part of planting indoors is allowing the paper to get as much light as possible.
- If you’re not sure how much light is enough light, get down on the pot’s level. Can you see the sky from where your pot is? If your answer is no, either place it closer to a window, or lower to the ground.
By following these tips you’re well on your way to successfully growing your seed paper indoors! Continue to water consistently and you’ll be enjoying wildflowers in no time.
Happy Planting! <3
